Understanding Silver Purity and Fineness

When comparing silver products, begin with the stated silver content. Purity describes the proportion of silver in the material, while fineness expresses that proportion in parts per thousand.

What does a fineness number mean?

A fineness of 999 means 999 parts silver in every 1,000 parts of material, equivalent to 99.9%. A marking of 925 corresponds to 92.5%. These numbers describe composition; they do not tell you the product’s weight or total price.

Read the product information together

Ask about the maker, stated weight, fineness and any identifying markings. Check how these details relate to the invoice or other documentation supplied. Appearance alone cannot establish purity, and a stamped number is not a substitute for appropriate verification.

Understand the scope of a standard

LBMA’s London Good Delivery rules specify a minimum silver fineness of 999.0 parts per thousand. Those rules apply to qualifying wholesale bars; a small retail bar or coin should not be assumed to carry that status simply because it has a 999 marking.

Before confirming your enquiry

Ask Annapurna Bullion to explain the specific product’s stated fineness, available markings and documentation. Confirm any verification arrangements before agreeing to a transaction.

What Influences Silver Prices?

Silver has both industrial and precious-metal uses. Its market price reflects changing expectations and trading activity, so a published rate is a reference for a particular time rather than a promise of a future price.

Supply and demand

Mine production and recycling contribute to supply. Industrial fabrication, jewellery, silverware and investment contribute to demand. Changes in any of these areas can affect market conditions, but no single measure reliably predicts the next price move.

Investor activity and market conditions

Investor purchases and sales, available market liquidity and broader economic expectations can also influence prices. The Silver Institute’s research examines these influences alongside physical supply and demand.

A Nepal reference rate and your final quote

Our rates page displays the latest Nepal silver reference published by FENEGOSIDA. Check the publication date and selected unit before comparing figures. A per-tola figure and a per-10-gram figure refer to different quantities.

Your final buying or selling quote must be confirmed directly. Ask which charges are included, what product the quote covers and how long the quoted terms remain applicable.

Keep comparisons consistent

Compare the same weight, fineness and product format. A headline price without those details is not enough to compare two offers.

Questions to Ask Before Purchasing Silver

A useful silver enquiry starts with the product you need and the information required to compare it. Take time to clarify the details before confirming payment or arranging collection.

What exactly is available?

Ask whether the product is granules, a bar or a coin. Confirm the quantity available, stated weight and fineness. If a particular maker, packaging or format matters to you, ask about it explicitly.

What does the quoted price include?

Confirm the currency, weight unit and total amount payable. Ask whether any applicable charges are included, how long the quote is valid and whether the price is fixed when you confirm the transaction.

What information and documents will I receive?

Ask what invoice, markings and supporting documents accompany the item. Confirm how the product’s stated specification is established and whether any assessment is available. Keep the documents supplied with your purchase.

How will payment and collection work?

Confirm accepted payment methods, any transaction requirements and the collection arrangements directly. Please contact Annapurna Bullion before visiting Baluwatar to agree on a suitable time.

What if I later want to sell?

Do not assume a purchase includes guaranteed buy-back. Ask about eligibility, assessment, documentation and the method for confirming any future offer. Terms are established at the time of the enquiry.
